If someone is feeling bored on Crete, he has to blame himself. The island offers varying landscapes (mountains, wide plateaux, steep coasts, large sandy beaches, ravines, the most well-known is the gorge of Samaria. The peaks of the highest mountains (2400m) are snow-capped till far in springtime while people down at the seaside have a swim. There is the possibility to visit many interesting archaeological sites and museums. Caves, secluded mountain villages, sleepy fishing villages, busy city life with stylish bars and shopping streets, hidden monasteries, monuments of ancient times, wine-growing regions, olive groves, banana plantations… Crete offers anything according to anybody’s taste, whether you prefer discos or lonesome walks.
